Prof. Ahmed Ghoneim, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Tanta University and Chairman of the University Hospitals Board, inaugurated the first annual conference of the Department of Internal Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine, Tanta University, titled “The New in Internal Medicine 2025.” The conference included participation from all departmental units.

   The event was held under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Hussein Mahmoud, President of Tanta University; Dr. Hatem Amin, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research and Prof. Mahmoud Selim, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development. It was also sponsored and attended by Prof. Ahmed Ghoneim, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the University Hospitals Board Prof. Mohamed Hantira, Vice Dean for Postgraduate Studies and Research Prof. Loay Al-Ahwal, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development and Prof. Wael Farag, Head of the Department and Conference Chair.

The honorary president of the conference was Professor Fouad Haras, Professor of Internal Medicine and former President of Tanta University.

The conference featured the participation of heads of departmental units including:

• Prof. Gamal El-Naggar, Head of the Nephrology and Dialysis Unit

• Prof. Abeer Shehba, Head of the Rheumatology and Clinical Immunology Unit

• Prof. Mohamed Mohamed El-Badawy, Head of the Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Endoscopy Unit

• Prof. Yasser Abdelraouf, Head of the Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism Unit

• Prof. Tamer El-Badawy, Head of the Hematology, Blood Cancers, and Bone Marrow Transplantation Unit

• Prof. Mohamed Sarhan, Director of the New Internal Medicine Hospital, Deputy Director of the Main Hospital, and the New Surgery Hospital.

The conference was organized by the organizing committee consisting of:

Dr. Ahmed Fikry, Dr. Dina Abu Asi, Dr. Amani Dweidar, Dr. Reham Mohamed, Dr. Marwa Siam, Dr. Mohamed Sherif, Dr. Ahmed Fahmy, and Dr. Ahmed Abdelazim.

The event was attended by a large number of professors from the Department of Internal Medicine, the supporting staff of the faculty, and specialists from various Egyptian universities, the Ministry of Health hospitals, Health Insurance, and the Egyptian Fellowship trainees affiliated with the department.
