The history of the department has begun with the beginning of the establishment of Tanta University Hospital, and since then the department has witnessed developments in the educational process and the provision of medical service. The department is divided into six complementary and coordinated units to provide high-quality service through educational and medical service.
The department was established with the establishment of the Faculty of Medicine in 1962, as it was a branch of Alexandria University in the building opposite the Governorate General Office building at El-Geesh Street.
