Otorhinolaryngology was set up in 1968 as a unit which was affiliated to Internal Medicine Department. Faculty of Medicine then was affiliated to Alexandria University. Then, the department separated from Internal Medicine Department to be independent in April, 1994.
The department offers wide variety of therapeutic services in psychiatric and mental health branches.

The Vision:
of the Department of Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery is to:
Improve health care by enhancing the field of otolaryngology/head and neck surgery and by advancing its clinical application.


Our Mission:

1. To provide primary, secondary and tertiary health care service in otolaryngology.
2. To provide outstanding undergraduate and postgraduate education that disseminates otolaryngology/head and neck surgery knowledge and facilitates more contributions to the knowledge base.
3. The research mission of our Department is to perform, present, and publish research initiatives in Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery, while giving our residents and fellows an opportunity to acquire skills in research through participation in work done by our Department members.
4. To increase the levels of academic, clinical, and research collaborations with other departments in Tanta Faculty of Medicine, as well as the ORL-HNS departments in foreign countries.
