Prof. Ahmed Ghoneim, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Tanta University and Chairman of the University Hospitals Board, chaired the Urology Department Council meeting for January 2025. The meeting was attended by Prof. Magdy Sabbah, former President of Tanta University and founder of the Kidney Hospital, Prof. Hassan Al-Tatawi, Executive Director of University Hospitals, Prof. Abdel-Hamid Al-Bahnsi, Head of the Department, Prof. Mohamed Abu Farha, Director of the Comprehensive Clinic, Prof. Ahmed Abdel-Motleb Issa, Director of Operations at the Kidney and Urology Surgery Hospital, Prof. Samah Al-Nasharty, Secretary of the Council, and the department’s board members, at the council’s meeting hall.

Prof. Ghoneim expressed his pleasure in being present at the Urology Department, surrounded by a distinguished group of faculty members at the renowned Kidney and Urology Surgery Hospital. He praised the department’s role in performing precise surgeries, education, postgraduate studies, and community service.

Prof. Ghoneim highlighted that after the council completed its agenda, a tour was conducted to inspect the latest preparations, developments, and updates in the operations sector and the hospital, which have been equipped with the latest medical devices in line with the development plan for university hospitals. This modernization is aimed at ensuring the hospital can carry out its medical and therapeutic mission to the highest standard, in line with recent advances in the medical field.

He pointed out that the newly acquired equipment includes three C-arm devices used in kidney and flexible ureter surgeries, forty flexible ureteroscope devices in various sizes for laser lithotripsy, which can also be used for children, and the Shock Wave Lithotripsy (SWL) device, a German-made stone fragmentation machine. This device is known for its high accuracy, efficiency, compact size, and minimal side effects, all of which are operating at full capacity within the hospital.

At the end of his tour, Prof. Ghoneim praised the excellent medical standards at the Kidney and Urology Surgery Hospital and the continuous development efforts in the operations sector. He commended the hospital's administration for its efforts in upgrading the medical services provided to patients, in line with the political leadership's commitment to delivering exceptional healthcare to the Egyptian people.
