Prof. Ahmed Ghanem, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Tanta University, announced the opening of the Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) Screening Unit. This follows the acquisition of the latest state-of-the-art equipment in the world, which uses advanced technologies for the diagnosis and treatment of retinal conditions in premature infants

Prof. Ahmed Ghonaim, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Tanta University and Chairman of the University Hospitals Board, announced the opening of the Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) Screening Unit at the Eye Surgery and Medicine Hospital, part of Tanta University Hospitals. This follows the delivery of the latest and most advanced device in the world, the Retcam, which is the latest generation of specialized cameras in this field. The unit is the first of its kind in the Delta region of Egypt and is strategically located in the governorates of the Nile Delta, allowing it to provide free medical services to as many children as possible. The unit also benefits from a team of distinguished professors and faculty members specialized in early detection and treatment of retinal diseases in newborns. The unit operates under the supervision of Prof. Hassan Al-Tatawi, Executive Director of the University Hospitals, Prof. Osama Shalaby, Head of the Department and Director of the Eye Surgery and Medicine Hospital, Prof. Mostafa Abdel Latif Abu El-Enein, Head of the Retina Unit, Prof. Raouf Gaber, Assistant Professor in the Department, and Prof. Ahmed Rushdi, Lecturer of the Department.
