Prof. Ahmed Ghoneim, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Tanta University and Chairman of the University Hospitals Board, inaugurated the seminars for the presidential initiative on "Early Detection and Treatment of Cancer: Colon, Cervical, Lung, and Prostate Cancer." This initiative is part of the active involvement of Tanta University Faculty of Medicine Hospitals in the presidential initiatives. The seminars were held from October 30 to 31, 2024, at the New Surgery Hospital, the University Chest Hospital, and the University Kidney and Urology Surgery Hospital, with the goal of training medical staff from Ministry of Health hospitals in Egypt.
A delegation from the scientific committee of the presidential initiatives at the Ministry of Higher Education attended the event, including Prof. Ihab Kamel, Professor at the National Research Center and member of the Supreme Committee for Presidential Cancer Initiatives, and Prof. Nermeen Mustafa, Consultant in Cancer Treatment at Ain Shams University and member of the Supreme Committee for Cancer Initiatives. The delegation also included representatives from the office of the Assistant Minister of Health for Presidential Initiatives, Dr. Mohamed Mohsen, Dr. Aya Gaber, and Dr. Basma Mohsen.
From Tanta University Hospitals, the attendees included Prof. Hassan Al-Tatawi, Executive Director of University Hospitals, Prof. Wael Farag, Head of the Department of Internal Medicine, Prof. Ahmed Tawfiq, Head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Prof. Mohamed Mokhtar El-Bediwi, Head of the Endoscopy Unit in the Department of Internal Medicine, Prof. Ahmed Sweilem, Director of the Main Hospital and the New Surgery Hospital, Prof. Mohamed Sarhan, Deputy Director of the Main Hospital and the New Surgery Hospital, and the General Coordinator for the Presidential Cancer Initiatives at Tanta University Hospitals, along with several faculty members, teaching assistants, and staff from the university hospitals.
