Strategic Objectives



1- To achieve distinction in medical education programs offered to Bachelor's degree students through:
? Improvement of the infrastructure of the educational environment
? Improvement of teaching staff's abilities to achieve distinction in education and learning
? To confirm teaching and applying principles of evidence-basedmedicine
? To support and encourage specialized scientists
? To assert development of student support programs


2- To achieve distinction in medical education programs offered to postgraduate students through complete accreditation to all programs and presenting training at the highest level of quality
3- To achieve distinction in continuous medical education through organizing regular workshops
4- To encourage scientific research programs and the scientific research infrastructure to implement the vision and mission of the Faculty
5- To present high quality care to patients particularly in rural communities in Middle Delta region via maximizing use of resourcescommon between Faculty of Medicine and its affiliated University hospitals
6- To foster and strengthen the relation between Tanta Faculty of Medicine and the hospitals affiliated to Ministry of Health and Health Insurance Authority, and to offer training in service outlets to personnel who work in medical service outlets


The environmental analysis was used for formulating the strategic objectives of the Faculty in order to support points of strength, deal with points of weakness, and avoid threats that have negative effect on its performance. Furthermore, the strategic objectives of the Faculty have been modified according to the study of the environmental analysis. The strategic objectives of the Faculty have been discussed with parties inside and outside the Faculty who represent academic leaders, teaching staff, administrators, students, graduates and members from local community related to graduates through questionnaires that include all parties inside and outside the Faculty (appendix 1-14), a workshop whose output was sent via e-mail for opinion (appendix 1-5), and a workshop that was held on October 18, 2010 (appendix 1-6). The new modification was ratified by Faculty Council on November 18, 2009 (appendix 1-1) as follows:


1. To update and follow up implementation of Faculty strategic plan
2. To develop the organizational structure and the administrative aspects of the Faculty
3. To abide by professional ethics and to apply fair practices and non-discrimination
4. To improve teaching staff's abilities, to increase performance level, to draw up ratified policies for improvement and enhancement at the Faculty
5. To develop programs and curricula to Bachelor's degree students and postgraduate students so as to cope with the National Academic Reference Standards (NARS)
6. To improve available education and learning resources and refine methodology of teaching and students' assessment
7. To develop scientific research system at the Faculty To increase the effectiveness of the role played by the Faculty in community service and offering high quality care to patients particularly in rural community in Middle Delta region through maximizing use of resources common between Faculty of Medicine and University hospitals
